NOVEMBER 2ND: The Mighty Dashner/ Free Will/ Severe Head Drama. All three new bands to the shop. C'mon out and check 'em out. No cover. 18 and over welcome. Doors at 7:00
WE play tonight (saturday dec. 3rd) at the Waleys Childrens benefit at ten O'Clock. Other than that we don't have anything booked right now. We play every thursday at the corunna rd. bar hosting open jam night. if you want to see us play at open jam night you have to be there by 9:30 because we play first and then get everyone up to jam.
In my opinion, free will needs to change the way a certain member of their band messes with the jam night list. it ticks off a lot of bands that this person puts all alternative bands before the good bands. Everytime a band signs up at no. 1 spot, this person knocks them down farther on the list, which causes them to perform at a later time. A lot of times, these band members have jobs and have to work early in the morning. I wonder if the person thats messing with the jam night list has a concept of what a job is? And another thing, I feel, this business of other performers calling the house band and having them put their name(s) on the list like their taking reservations has got to stop, it's not fair for other bands and musicians to wait to perform, after all, this is not Red Lobster or Benehana's. There's other bands that would like to be heard within a limited amount of time. I'm sorry to say but as a leader of a band, my band will no longer perform at jam night until the person thats messing with the jam night list is properly dealt with and spoken to about his problem.
Why does everyone who has something critical to say always post anonymous? Seems like it would be easier to just go to the person you're talking about and try to fix the problem. If that person takes it in a bad way and acts like an *******, that's a different story. But personally I would want to at least let that person know I am pissed before I start writing huge posts and threatening never to play there again and **** like that. Kind of childish.
Sometimes going to the person that you're having the problem with and talking things over with that person doesn't work all of the time, and if anyone feels that they have to swear and/ or curse in their messages that makes that person look really childish, Why don't you grow up for goodness sake?
Wow, really surprised to read this. Free Will helps out so many people and I know any one of them would give the shirt off of their back for people. I've seen it. They play every fundraiser type show, I've even seen them go to people's houses and give them food when they were hungry.
They have a tough job balancing all of those bands and artists at the CRB and they try to treat everyone with respect. I think if you think about it, you could probably understand a little more of what they have to deal with every Thursday as far as pleasing the MANAGEMENT and the artists that come up and hang out. Plus, they'll even get up and help you with your own material if you want them to. Free Will is good people, all of them.
Plus, I saw where bands would cross off Free Will on the list at the top spot and write their own name above other bands that have already signed up. When that happens, the artist who did it wasn't first to begin with, they were just trying to cut other people so they could play sooner.
I agree that people shouldn't be able to call to have thier name put on the list. I always thought of it as an incentive for people to come watch us play that they would have to be there early enough to actually get a chance to play.
We do try our best to please everyone and of course we want it to be fair. The biggest goal for us is to have a positive impact on the people that see and interact with us and I'm sorry that we fail to deliver that sometimes.
Hopefully you could come and give us another chance sometime.
